Exquisitely Detailed Liberty and Bald Eagle Designs

Obverse: The date is on the obverse and the artist's initials can be seen below it. Liberty is at the center holding her torch high as the sun's rays stretch into the background above the Capitol building. This design is by Augustus Saint-Gaudens. The U.S. Mint in 2020, referred to original historical assets to modify this obverse design by adding legacy details that result in a design that more closely matches Saint-Gaudens' original vision.

Reverse: This reverse design shows a bald eagle from the neck up. There are tons of fine details in this design by Jennie Norris and this reverse has been dubbed the Type 2 Eagle Portrait reverse. It debuted in mid-2021 when it replaced the original Type 1 Family of Eagles reverse design.
