Why add this PCGS certified Proof 2022-W American Silver Eagle to your collection?
Share in the rich tradition of the Proof Silver Eagle with this 2022-W edition. This 2022-dated issue features the changes that were introduced in mid-2021 when the Type 2 design replace the Type 1, including a new reverse design by Emily Damstra. The Type 2 design also bears Adolph Weinman's artist mark and has an interrupted reeded edge that serves as a security feature.
Powerful Eagle Landing Design by Emily Damstra
Obverse: The obverse features Adolph Weinman's Walking Liberty design from the half dollar of the same name. Liberty carries laurel and oak branches in the early morning sun while draped in the American flag. Her name, "LIBERTY," is inscribed on this face, as are the date, "2022," and the national motto, "IN GOD WE TRUST." Adolph Weinman was one of the most important figures in America's early 20th century numismatic renaissance. His most famous contributions to the effort were the Mercury Dime and the Walking Liberty Half Dollar.
Reverse: On the reverse, the national bird is depicted landing with an oak branch in its talons. The design is the work of Emily Damstra. The design is encircled by three rim inscriptions, "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," "ONE DOLLAR," and "1 OZ. FINE SILVER," while "E PLURIBUS UNUM," a statutory motto, is also included on this face. Emily Damstra has an M.F.A. from the University of Michigan. She has been designing US coins since 2017.
