Featuring the Patriotic Eagle Landing Design of Emily Damstra
Obverse: The obverse design comes from Adolph Weinman’s Walking Liberty Half Dollar. The early morning sun is just beginning to rise as Liberty carries laurel and oak branches while draped in the American flag. Her name, “LIBERTY,” is inscribed on this face, as are the national motto, “IN GOD WE TRUST,” and the date, “2022.” Adolph Weinman immigrated to the United States from Germany. He was one of the most important contributors to America’s early 20th century numismatic renaissance.
Reverse: Sculpted by Michael Gaudioso, Emily Damstra’s reverse design features an eagle spreading its wings as it prepares to land with an oak branch in its talons. To the right just inside the rim inscriptions is the statutory motto “E PLURIBUS UNUM.” Inscriptions along the rim read, “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “ONE DOLLAR,” and “1 OZ. FINE SILVER.” Emily Damstra is a University of Michigan graduate who has her M.F.A. from the prestigious institution. Her designs have appeared on numerous American coins since 2017.
