Striking Eagle Landing Design by Emily Damstra

Obverse: Adolph Weinman’s historic Walking Liberty design graces the obverse. Draped in the American flag, Liberty carries laurel and oak branches as the morning sun begins its ascent. Obverse inscriptions include her name, “LIBERTY,” the date, “2022,” and the national motto, “IN GOD WE TRUST.” Adolph Weinman was a German born sculptor who immigrated to the United States. He made several numismatic contributions, including the Mercury Dime and the Walking Liberty Half Dollar.

Reverse: On the reverse is Emily Damstra’s Landing Eagle design. The national bird prepares to land carrying an oak branch. “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “ONE DOLLAR,” and “1 OZ. FINE SILVER” are inscribed along the rim. “E PLURIBUS UNUM” is also inscribed on this face. Emily Damstra attended the University of Michigan, where she earned her MFA. Damnstra’s designs have appeared on several American coins since 2017.
