Striking Eagle Landing Design by Emily Damstra
Obverse: The obverse design, which was created by Adolph Weinman, is known as Walking Liberty. Liberty strides confidently carrying laurel and oak branches in the early morning sun. Her name, "LIBERTY," is inscribed on the obverse, as are the date, "2022," and the national motto, "IN GOD WE TRUST." Adolph Weinman was a prolific sculptor. He made numerous numismatic contributions, including designing the Mercury Dime and the Walking Liberty Half Dollar.
Reverse: Emily Damstra's reverse design replaced John Mercanti's in mid-2021. It features an eagle preparing to land with an oak branch in its talons. The design is encircled by the rim inscriptions "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," "ONE DOLLAR," and "1 OZ. FINE SILVER," while the motto "E PLURIBUS UNUM" is included just inside the rim inscriptions. Emily Damstra earned her MFA at the University of Michigan. She has made several numismatic contributions, including designs for the America the Beautiful and American Women Quarters Programs.
