Striking Eagle Landing Design by Emily Damstra
Obverse: Gracing the obverse is the iconic Walking Liberty design of Adolph Weinman. Liberty is draped in the American flag and dons a Phrygian cap as she carries branches in the early morning sun. Her name, "LIBERTY," is inscribed on this face, as are the date, "2022," and the national motto, "IN GOD WE TRUST." Adolph Weinman was a prolific sculptor and a major contributor to the early 20th century American numismatic renaissance. His best know contributions to that effort were the Mercury Dime and the Walking Liberty Half Dollar.
Reverse: On the coin's reverse is an Eagle Landing design that was created by Emily Damstra. The national bird prepares to land while carrying an oak branch in its talons. "E PLURIBUS UNUM" is just within the rim inscriptions, which read, "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," "ONE DOLLAR," and "1 O.Z. FINE SILVER." Emily Damstra earned her MFA at the University of Michigan. This is her most important contribution to American coinage to date.
