Striking Eagle Landing Design by Emily Damstra
Obverse: The Walking Liberty design of Adolph Weinman graces the obverse. Liberty, draped in the American flag, bears branches of laurel and oak in the early morning sun. Her name, "LIBERTY," joins the date, "2022," and the national motto, "IN GOD WE TRUST," among the obverse inscriptions. Adolph Weinman immigrated to the United States from Ireland. He was a prominent sculptor and designed two of the most important coins in American history, the Mercury Dime and the Walking Liberty Half Dollar.
Reverse: The reverse bears an Eagle Landing design that was introduced in mid-2021. An eagle, detailed finely, prepares to land with an oak branch in its talons. "E PLURIBUS UNUM" is inscribed inside the rim inscriptions, which note the name of the issuing country, "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," the coin's face value, "ONE DOLLAR," and its metal content, "1 OZ. FINE SILVER." Emily Damstra has an MFA from the University of Michigan. She has made numerous numismatic contributions, including designs for the America the Beautiful and American Women quarters programs.
