Why order this West Point Mint 2022-(W) American Silver Eagle?
2022 marks a key year for the world's favorite bullion coin, the American Silver Eagle, as it is the first full year for the Type 2 version. Featuring the Patriotic Landing Eagle Design of Emily Damstra
Obverse: Gracing the obverse is the iconic Walking Liberty design of Adolph Weinman. Liberty dons a Phrygian cap and is draped in the American flag as she carries branches in the early morning sun. Her name, "LIBERTY," arches over the image, while the date, "2022," and national motto, "IN GOD WE TRUST," are also inscribed on this face. Adolph Weinman was an immigrant from Ireland who made numerous numismatic contributions. He was also a prolific sculptor, whose work is still on display in several American cities.
Reverse: A bald eagle prepares to land carrying an oak branch in its talons in Emily Damstra's reverse design. The image is encircled by three rim inscriptions, which provide the name of the issuing country, "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," the coin's face value, "ONE DOLLAR," and its metal content, "1 OZ. FINE SILVER." Also inscribed on this face is the statutory motto "E PLURIBUS UNUM." Emily Damstra has an MFA from the University of Michigan. Her contributions include designs for the America the Beautiful and American Women Quarters Programs.
