Coming Soon! 2022-W 1 Ounce Burnished Gold American Eagles!
It was 1986 when the very first American Gold Eagle coins were struck by the U.S. Mint. These 22 karat gold coins were created to give Americans an easy way to purchase high quality gold bullion. The American Gold Eagle comes in four sizes and is typically offered in several different finishes each year. Some of them are made just for collectors, such as the burnished Gold Eagle. This 2022 Gold Eagle has a burnished finish. This $50 legal tender coin was struck at the West Point branch of the U.S. Mint.
Inspiring Gold Eagle Design
Obverse: Just as in earlier years of the series, the obverse of this Gold Eagle features a classic Liberty design by Augustus Saint-Gaudens. Liberty is holding her torch high in this design, the Capitol building and the sun's rays are depicted in the background. The date is in the lower right portion of the design and if you look higher, you will see that Liberty is carrying an olive branch with her other hand.
Reverse: The face value and gold weight are among the inscriptions located on the reverse. This side features a new bald eagle design that was introduced in mid-2021. The eagle is shown from the side and the perspective is very close, you can only see its head and neck. The level of detail here is simply stunning.
