Exquisite Springbok Antelope Design by Coert Steynberg

Obverse: A left-side portrait of Paul Kruger, the former President of the South African Republic, features on the obverse. The image was designed by Otto Schultz. Joining it are inscriptions of the name of the issuing country in Afrikaans, "SUID-AFRIKA," and English, "SOUTH AFRICA." Otto Schultz was a famous German sculptor.

Reverse: Coert Steynberg's iconic springbok antelope design graces the reverse. The animal, which has long been a symbol of the issuing nation, bounds across its plains. The design splits the date, "2022," with the first two digits to the left and the last two on the right. The coin's name, "KRUGERRAND," arches over the image, while its weight and purity are inscribed in English and Afrikaans, "FYNSILWER 1 OZ FINE SILVER," along with the face value, "R1," below. Coert Steynberg was a famed South African medalist and sculptor.
