Obverse: A right facing effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II is centered within a scalloped border on the obverse. The monarch's image is accompanied by the inscriptions "ELIZABETH II," "SOLOMON ISLANDS," "$5" and "1 OZ AG 999." The Queen's likeness was designed in 1998 by acclaimed British sculptor Ian Rank-Broadley.

Reverse: An enchanting winter scene in a Russian forest is illustrated on the reverse. Father Frost is depicted strolling forward with a walking stick in hand, dressed in a full length, brilliant blue fur coat and matching hat, with valenki (traditional Russian wool winter boots) on his feet and a sack of gifts over his shoulder.
