Obverse: The obverse is graced with a right facing likeness of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II wearing the famed Royal Diamond Diadem created for King George IV in 1820. A wide frame surrounding the effigy contains the inscriptions "ELIZABETH II," "AUSTRALIA" and the coin's "1 DOLLAR" denomination. This distinctive interpretation of the monarch was created by renowned British sculptor Jody Clark in 2015.

Reverse: The reverse features a close up portrait of an emu in the foreground, while a full rendition of the statuesque bird is portrayed walking near the bank of a river in the background. A border arcs above the image bearing the inscriptions "AUSTRALIAN EMU" and the "P" Mint mark of the Perth Mint. The additional inscription "2022 1 OZ 9999 SILVER" curves near the rim at the bottom right edge of the design.
