Exquisite Canadian Peace Dollar Design

Obverse: The right facing likeness of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II crafted by award-winning Canadian portrait artist Susanna Blunt in 2003 is centered on the obverse. The inscriptions "ELIZABETH II," "CANADA," "D.G. REGINA" and "50 DOLLARS" surround the portrait, along with a laser etched repeating geometric field pattern which is unique to the 5 oz. coin of the series.

Reverse: A young woman is depicted on the reverse with a wreath of maple leaves and olive branches upon her head, which are design elements representing peace, order and good government. The background features the coin's unique pulsating texture. "A MARI USQUE AD MARE" curves above, which translates from Latin as the Canadian national motto "From Sea to Sea." Additional inscriptions include "PAX" (peace), "2022" and the artist's initials "ST," crediting Susan Taylor with the elegant imagery. Ms. Taylor is a retired RCM senior engraver, and a 2016 recipient of the American Medal of the Year Award.
