Spectacularly Detailed Maple Leaf Design

Obverse: The obverse features an effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II in a right facing pose. This rendition of the monarch was created in 2003 by award-winning Canadian portrait artist Susanna Blunt. Inscriptions include "ELIZABETH II," "5 DOLLARS" and "2022." Since the appearance of the RCM issued coin has been altered by a private Mint, the coin is no longer considered to be legal tender of Canada.

Reverse: A beautifully textured rainbow colored holographic sugar maple leaf is centered on the reverse, shimmering in breathtaking contrast against the ruthenium ennobled background. The leaf's stem is flanked by a micro-engraved maple leaf security mark and the coin's individual serial number. Inscribed "CANADA," "FINE SILVER 1 OZ ARGENT PUR" and "9999." The classic maple leaf graphic was originally created for the 1979 Gold Maple Leaf series by sculptor Walter Ott (1920-2020), the RCM's Chief Engraver and Director of Art from 1977-1985.
