The world renowned graphic for the series was created by Walter Ott for the Gold Maple Leaf coin in 1979. The late Mr. Ott (1920-2020) was the RCM's Chief Engraver and Director of Art from 1977-1985, and responsible for more than 1,000 coin and medal designs over the course of his lengthy career. Susan Taylor, a retired RCM Senior Engraver and former apprentice to Mr. Ott, re-imagined the classic Maple Leaf design into an exquisitely sculptural Ultra High Relief numismatic masterpiece.

Gorgeously Rendered Maple Leaf Design

Obverse: The obverse is graced with a right facing image of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Inscriptions include "ELIZABETH II," "20 DOLLARS" and "2022." This distinctive royal effigy has appeared on Canada's coinage since 2003, and is a superb example of the work of acclaimed Canadian portrait artist Susanna Blunt.

Reverse: Centered on the reverse is the iconic sugar maple leaf graphic in Ultra High Relief. "CANADA" is inscribed above, with "FINE SILVER 1 OZ ARGENT PUR" curving below, and the coin's purity of "9999" flanking the magnificently sculptural leaf.

The stunning reverse proof coin is encapsulated in a sonically sealed NGC protective holder with a Canadian flag style certification label which has been hand signed by sculptor Susan Taylor.
