Why does this Brilliant Uncirculated 2022 Australia Phoenix Red and Gold Colorized 1 oz. silver dollar coin belong in your collection?
The Phoenix is prominent throughout ancient Chinese mythology, as a symbol of truth, kindness and knowledge. The rare appearance of a Phoenix is revered as a blessing for happiness, harmony and prosperity. The sixth release of the Perth Mint's Chinese Myths and Legends series is a celebration of the Phoenix.
Astoundingly Detailed Phoenix Imagery
Obverse: Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II is posed facing right on the obverse wearing the Royal Diamond Diadem. A thick border encircling the portrait contains the inscriptions "ELIZABETH II," "AUSTRALIA," "1 OZ 9999 AG," "1 DOLLAR" and the date of issue "2022." This likeness of the monarch was created in 2015 by award-winning British sculptor Jody Clark.
Reverse: An enchanting Phoenix colorized with red and gold tones is depicted in flight on the reverse, with a paulownia bloom held in its beak. The form of the Phoenix is seamlessly composed of the head of a pheasant on a mandarin duck's body, with a peacock's tail, the beak of a parrot and the wings of a swallow. The Perth Mint mark "P" is nestled within an array of auspicious clouds in the background.
