Why purchase this PCGS MS70 FDI 2022 $1 American Silver Eagle?
This 2022 $1 Silver Eagle continues a rich tradition that started in 1986. In 2021, the series underwent some changes as the Type 2 version was introduced mid-year, replacing the Type-1 design that had appeared on the series since its beginning. Among the changes, which are continued in this release, were a new "Eagle Landing" reverse design, a new security feature, and the inclusion of Adolph Weinman's artist mark on the obverse.
Featuring a Striking Eagle Landing Design by Emily Damstra
Obverse: Gracing the obverse is Adolph Weinman's iconic Walking Liberty design. The early morning sun shines on Liberty as she carries branches of laurel and oak while draped in the American flag. Inscriptions on this face include her name, "LIBERTY," the date, "2022," and the national motto, "IN GOD WE TRUST." Adolph Weinman was among the most important contributors to America's early 20th century numismatic renaissance. His most famous coins were the Walking Liberty Half Dollar and the Mercury Dime.
Reverse: On the reverse is Emily Damstra's Eagle Landing design, which was sculpted by Michael Gaudioso. America's national bird spreads its wings as it prepares to land carrying an oak branch. Inscribed along the rim are the name of the issuing country, "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," the coin's face value, "ONE DOLLAR," and its metal content, "1 OZ. FINE SILVER." Also inscribed on this face is a second statutory motto, "E PLURIBUS UNUM." Emily Damstra graduated from the University of Michigan with an M.F.A. degree. Her designs have been appearing on American coinage since 2017.
