Why buy this PCGS certified Mint State 69 First Strikes 2022 American Silver Eagle for your collection?
The rich tradition of the American Silver Eagle continues with this stunning 2022 edition. Part of the second year of issue of the Type 2 design in the series, this 2022-dated Silver Eagle includes the changes that were introduced in mid-2021 when the Type-1 design was replaced. Those changes include a new "Eagle Landing" reverse design, the addition of Adolph Weinman's artist mark on the obverse of the coin, and a new security feature, an interrupted reeded edge.
Featuring the Classic Walking Liberty Design of Adolph Weinman
Obverse: The iconic Walking Liberty design of Adolph Weinman, which came from his Walking Liberty Half Dollar, graces the obverse. The early morning sun rises as Liberty bears laurel and oak branches in the foreground. Obverse inscriptions read, "LIBERTY," "IN GOD WE TRUST," and "2022." Adolph Weinman designed two of the most recognizable coins in American history, the Walking Liberty Half Dollar and the Mercury Dime. Besides designing coins, he was a prolific sculptor.
Reverse: Emily Damstra designed and Michael Gaudioso sculpted the reverse design. With an oak branch in tow, an eagle prepares to land with its wings spread. The statutory motto "E PLURIBUS UNUM" is inscribed on this face, as are the name of the issuing country, "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," the coin's face value, "ONE DOLLAR," and its weight, "1 OZ. FINE SILVER." Emily Damstra attended the University of Michigan, where she earned her M.F.A. Her designs have appeared on coinage since 2017.
