Why purchase this NGC certified Mint State 69 First Releases 2022 American Silver Eagle?

This 2022 Silver Eagle is part of the second year of issue for the Type 2 design in the series. Changes from the Type 1 version, which was transitioned away from in mid-2021, include a new security feature and Adolph Weinman's artist mark on the obverse. The biggest change, though, is that a new "Eagle Landing" reverse design by Emily Damstra replaced the original "Heraldic Eagle" reverse design of John Mercanti.

Powerful Eagle Landing Design by Emily Damstra

Obverse: Adolph Weinman's Walking Liberty design, which originally appeared on the half dollar, serves as the obverse design. Liberty carries laurel and oak branches in the early morning sun. Obverse inscriptions include her name, "LIBERTY," the date, "2022," and the national motto, "IN GOD WE TRUST." Adolph Weinman was born in Germany and immigrated to the United States. He played a central role in the overhaul of American coins in the early 20th century.

Reverse: Emily Damstra's reverse design was engraved by Michael Gaudioso. It features an eagle spreading its wings as it prepares to land with an oak branch in tow. The motto "E PLURIBUS UNUM" is inside the rim inscriptions, which read, "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," "ONE DOLLAR," and "1 OZ. FINE SILVER." Emily Damstra earned an M.F.A. from the University of Michigan. She has been a major contributor to the US Mint since 2017.
