Featuring the Patriotic Landing Eagle Design of Emily Damstra
Obverse: Retaining its place on the obverse, which it has had since the series began, is the Walking Liberty design of Adolph Weinman. Against a backdrop of the sunrise, Liberty carries laurel and oak branches while draped in the American flag. She is joined on this face by three inscriptions, which read, "LIBERTY," "2022," and "IN GOD WE TRUST." Adolph Weinman is one of the most important figures in American numismatic history. He designed two of the country's most beloved historic coins, the Mercury Dime and the Walking Liberty Half Dollar.
Reverse: Emily Damstra's Landing Eagle design, which was sculpted by Michael Gaudioso, features on the reverse. The bird carries an oak branch in its talons as it prepares to land. It is encircled by the rim inscriptions "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," "ONE DOLLAR," and "1 OZ. FINE SILVER." "E PLURIBUS UNUM" is also inscribed on this face. Emily Damstra has an M.F.A. from the University of Michigan. She has contributed designs for several American coins since 2017.
