Why Choose This MS70 First Day of Issue 2022 $50 American Gold Eagle with a Black Core Slab and a David Ryder Signed Label?
The first American Gold Eagle coins were struck by the U.S. Mint in 1986. This series of 22 karat gold coins was an immediate hit with collectors and stackers, today they are some of the most popular bullion coins offered by the U.S. Mint. The first major design change of the series came in 2021 with the transition to a new reverse design. This 2022 Gold Eagle has a brilliant uncirculated finish.
- This coin has been graded by Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC).
- This issue has been encapsulated with a label signed by former United States Mint director, David Ryder.
- This 2022 Gold Eagle was struck from 1 ounce of .9167 fine gold.
- This issue features an interrupted reeded edge security gap.
Breathtaking Liberty and Bald Eagle Designs
Obverse: The work of renowned artist Augustus Saint-Gaudens is displayed on this side. Many consider Saint-Gaudens' Liberty design to be the most beautiful design to ever appear on a U.S. coin. The sun's rays are in the background as Liberty holds her torch high and carries an olive branch with her other hand.
Reverse: The face value and gold weight can be found among the inscriptions on the reverse. This side features the new and very impressive bald eagle design by Jennie Norris. The design provides a very close side view of a bald eagle.
NGC MS70 First Day of Issue with a Black Core Holder and a Ryder Signed Label
Since this coin was submitted to the Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC) within 24 hours of its release, it also received the coveted First Day of Issue (FDI) designation. The grade of Mint State 70 (MS 70) indicates that this specimen is completely free of imperfections. Now it's housed in an aesthetic black core holder. The label has been signed by David J. Ryder, who has served as Director of the U.S. Mint not once, but twice! Ryder over saw the 3th anniversary of the American Gold Eagle series and celebratory design transition in 2021.
