Why Purchase This MS70 First Day of Issue 2022 $50 American Gold Eagle with a Black Core Slab and a Norris Signed Label?
The U.S. Mint offers an impressive range of annual bullion coins today and the American Gold Eagle is among the most popular. These 22 karat gold coins were first struck in 1986. The program began as a way to give the public a convenient way to buy and own gold bullion. The first major design change of the series came with the 35th anniversary in 2021 when the transition to the new reverse was made. This Gold Eagle was minted in 2022 and has a brilliant uncirculated finish.
- This 2022 Gold Eagle has a face value of $50 and gold content of 1 Troy oz.
- This issue features an interrupted reeded edge security measure.
- This issue has been certified by Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC).
- The specimen offered here has a label hand signed by the reverse designer Jennie Norris.
Classic Liberty and Stunning Bald Eagle
Obverse: This side shows one of the most widely appreciated designs in the history of U.S. coins. Liberty is depicted here, this is the work of Augustus Saint-Gaudens. The first time this design was used, it was on the Double Eagle which was a circulating $20 gold coin.
Reverse: On the reverse, the new design by Jennie Norris is displayed. Rather than the previous design which showed multiple eagles and was affectionately known as the "Family of Eagles" design, the new "Eagle Portrait" provides a close and intense view of a single bald eagle from the side.
