Featuring the Treasured Saint-Gaudens Design of Augustus Saint-Gaudens
Obverse: Gracing the obverse yet again is the iconic Saint-Gaudens design, which takes the name of its creator, Augustus Saint-Gaudens. Liberty strikes a confident pose at the center facing the holder with her torch in one hand and an olive branch in the other. Her name, "LIBERTY," is inscribed on this face, as is the date, "2022." Augustus Saint-Gaudens was an Irish immigrant who was most famous for his Double Eagle designs. Besides these and other numismatic contributions, he also founded an artist community known as the Cornish colony.
Reverse: The reverse design was created by Jennie Norris and sculpted by Renata Gordon. It is a detailed profile of a bald eagle under the statutory inscriptions "E PLURIBUS UNUM" and "IN GOD WE TRUST." Rim inscriptions read, "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," "5 DOLLARS," and "1/10 OZ. FINE GOLD." Jennie Norris made her numismatic debut with this design in mid-2021. She works at the University of Arizona as a graphic designer.
