Don’t Miss the Next “Chapter” Of China Mint’s “Series Within a Series!”
First released in 1982, China's Panda series has grown into one of the most widely collected and hotly anticipated annual issues in the world. Mintages have had to be increased multiple times just to keep up with demand!
But starting in 2019, the China Mint did something collectors never expected…
The Series Within a Series
One of the key reasons that collectors love the China Panda series is that, unlike other world bullion coins like U.S. Eagles or Canadian Maple Leafs, the China Panda features new, one-year-only design each year. Those designs are taken to an even greater level of beauty when they come struck in Proof condition, with frosty devices and mirrored fields, and with mintages that are a mere fraction of the bullion (Mint State) Panda coins. More on that later…
In 2019, the China Mint revealed a new, one-year-only reverse by renowned Chinese coin designer Tong Fang. This reverse design featured a mother panda holding its newborn cub. The design was a hit, especially when its second meaning was revealed: not only was this an adorable design, but it was the start of an all-new, 10-year design cycle! From 2019 until 2028, each year’s one-year-only design will feature another chapter in this panda cub’s life, all the way to full maturity. This adds another layer of collectability within this already incredibly popular series!
2021’s New One-Year-Only Design
2021 marks the third release of this “series within a series,” and the second design of the cycle by Ms. Tong Fang. In this third installment, a young panda cub has learned to climb, and is shown making its way up a tree as its mother watches from below. It’s a touching scene, and makes a beautiful addition to any coin collection.
Especially when secured as one of these limited-edition, large-sized Proof coins!
Struck in HUGE Amounts of 99.9% Gold and Silver
The coins being offered here aren’t just any Gold and Silver Pandas. These are the limited-edition large-sized coins, struck in 50 grams, 100 grams, 150 grams or even a full kilogram of gold, or 150 grams or a full kilo of silver. These coins reach up to 100 mm in diameter—they’re huge!
Another important element is that each coin comes struck in 99.9% fineness in either gold or silver and bears a legal-tender value. That value, along with the coin's weight and fineness, come backed by the authority of the Chinese government.
These are the finest ways to secure Tong Fang’s latest China Panda design—especially when certified in flawless condition.
Certified Flawless and First Releases
When it comes to a series this popular (or a design this adorable!), collectors want the best of the best. That’s why the coins offered here come certified by Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC), one of the world’s leading third-party grading services, as perfect Proof-70 Ultra Cameo (PF70 UC) condition. These coins are flawless, even under magnification!
In addition, NGC has certified these coins as First Releases—a coveted designation given only to coins received by NGC for grading within 30 days of their mintage’s release.
Custom Mint-Identified Labels Hand-Signed by Designer Tong Fang
For years, China Panda collectors had to guess which China Mint facility struck their coins. Was it Shenyang, Shenzhen or Shanghai? But thanks to some clever detective work, NGC can now certify coins as being struck at one of these facilities.
In 2021, all Panda Proofs come struck exclusively at the Shenyang Mint, and so your coins will arrive sealed with a custom label identifying their mint of origin as Shenyang.
In addition, each label has been hand-signed by Ms. Tong Fang, designer of the 2021 China Panda reverse, as well as the 2019 and upcoming 2023 and 2027 China Pandas!
A Limited Fraction of Already Limited Mintages
While millions of Gold and Silver Panda coins are struck each year, far fewer are minted in shining Proof condition, with highly detailed, frosty designs and shimmering, mirror-like fields. Proof coins are not released into general circulation—in fact, they’re created just for collectors. They require a special method of production that involves specially carved and treated dies, polished planchets and multiple strikes under extreme pressure. They’re miniature works of art that collectors crave! But relatively few exist compared to their Mint State counterparts. The Kilo Gold Panda Proof, for example, has a maximum mintage of just 1,000 coins for 2021!
But with these coins, that relative scarcity goes even further. While these coins have limited mintages, even fewer of each coin are available graded as PF70 UC, certified as First Release and sealed with hand-signed, mint-identified labels.
If you want to secure one of these limited, flawless, mint-identified Panda Proofs for your collection, you’ll have to act NOW!<
