Featuring Beloved Designs by John Mercanti and Adolph Weinman
Obverse: The coin's obverse features Adolph Weinman's iconic Walking Liberty design. Liberty, draped in the American flag, carries laurel and oak branches against a backdrop of the rising sun. Her name, "LIBERTY," is inscribed at the top of this face, while other obverse inscriptions include the date, "2021," and the national motto, "IN GOD WE TRUST." Adolph Weinman designed two of American history's best-known coins, the Walking Liberty Half Dollar and the Mercury Dime. He also designed numerous sculptures, which are displayed to this day in many American cities.
Reverse: On the reverse is an adaptation of the Great Seal of the United States by John Mercanti. Thirteen stars represent the original states above an eagle, which holds arrows and an olive branch while guarding a union shield. This design is encircled by three rim inscriptions, which read, "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," "1 OZ. FINE SILVER," and "ONE DOLLAR." John Mercanti had designed more medals than anyone else in American history. He spent nearly four decades with the U.S. Mint, including time as its Chief Engraver.
