Part way through the year, the U.S. Mint made the transition to using a new reverse design for the Silver Eagle. Over the course of 2021 there were Silver Eagles struck with Type 1 and Type 2 reverse designs, however just a single Burnished design was issued, the new Type 2 Eagle Landing design. This burnished Silver Eagle was struck at the West Point Mint and features a Type 2 reverse.

Stunning Liberty Obverse with New Type 2 Reverse

Obverse: The date is displayed on this side of the coin near the lower edge. Liberty is pictured on this side; the design was originally created by Adolph A. Weinman in the early 1900s. It also received some modifications in 2021, but these changes make it more similar to Weinman's original. His initials, "AW" also appear on the obverse.

Reverse: The new Eagle Landing design is shown here. The level of detail here is stunning. The eagle's individual feathers can be seen clearly as it descends to land. It's carrying a branch in its talons. The West Point Mint's "W" mint mark is near the eagle's tail.
