Featuring the Classic Walking Liberty Design of Adolph Weinman
Obverse: On the obverse is the beloved Walking Liberty design of Adolph Weinman, which appeared on the half dollar of the same name from 1916-1947. The morning sun begins to shine on Liberty as she carries laurel and oak branches while draped in the American flag. Obverse inscriptions read, "LIBERTY," "IN GOD WE TRUST," and "2021." Adolph Weinman made numerous numismatic contributions, including designing both faces of the Walking Liberty Half Dollar and the Mercury Dime. He was also a sculptor, who designed many works that are still on display in cities across America.
Reverse: The reverse bears a heraldic eagle design that John Mercanti modeled off of the Great Seal of the United States. Thirteen stars represent the original states above an eagle, which protects a union shield. The image is encircled by three rim inscriptions: "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," "1 OZ. FINE SILVER," and "ONE DOLLAR." John Mercanti spent thirty-seven years with the U.S. Mint, part of which he spent as its twelfth Chief Engraver. He has designed more medals and coins than anyone else in the mint's history.
