Patriotic Designs by Adolph Weinman and John Mercanti
Obverse: On the obverse is the historic Walking Liberty design that Adolph Weinman created for the 1916 half dollar. The morning sun starts to rise and shines on Liberty, who carries laurel and oak branches in the foreground. Inscriptions on this face include the featured figure's name, "LIBERTY," the date, "2021," and the national motto, "IN GOD WE TRUST." Adolph Weinman was a prominent sculptor and numismatic designer. His best known numismatic contributions were the Mercury Dime and the Walking Liberty Half Dollar.
Reverse: For the last time, the reverse bears John Mercanti's original reverse design, which he modeled off of the Great Seal of the United States. Thirteen stars at the top represent the original states above an eagle, which holds arrows and an olive branch while protecting a union shield. Inscriptions on the rim provide the name of the issuing country, "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," the coin's metal content, "1 OZ. FINE SILVER," and the coin's face value, "ONE DOLLAR." John Mercanti is American history's most prolific designer of coins and medals. During his career, he spent almost four decades with the US Mint, part of which he spent as its Chief Engraver.
