Breathtaking Silver Eagle Type-2 Imagery
Obverse: Lady Liberty appears on the obverse at daybreak, walking while draped in an American flag, accompanied by the inscriptions “LIBERTY,” “2021” and “IN GOD WE TRUST.” This rendition of Liberty, designed by renowned early 20th century sculptor Adolph A. Weinman, was initially designed for the 1916 Walking Liberty Half Dollar. The powerful image has adorned the Silver Eagle since its inaugural 1986 release, however the Type-2 style acknowledges Mr. Weinman’s artistry for the first time with the inclusion of his “AW” monogram.
Reverse: On the reverse, an eagle is portrayed with its wings lifted as it prepares to land, with an oak branch gripped in its talons. Inscribed “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “1 OZ. FINE SILVER,” “E PLURIBUS UNUM,” “W” and “ONE DOLLAR.” The Type -2 Eagle Landing image is credited to acclaimed artist Emily Damstra, whose previous designs for the U.S. Mint include the reverses of the 2019 River of No Return Wilderness and the 2021 Tallgrass Prairie America the Beautiful quarters.
