Stunning Landing Eagle Design by Emily Damstra
Obverse: The obverse bears the iconic Walking Liberty design of Adolph Weinman. The morning sun shines on Liberty as she carries laurel and oak branches while draped in the American flag. Inscriptions on this face include her name, "LIBERTY," the national motto, "IN GOD WE TRUST," and the date, "2021." Adolph Weinman was a German-born sculptor who immigrated to the United States. His best known numismatic contributions were the designs for the Mercury Dime and the Walking Liberty Half Dollar. Weinman's artist initials, "AW," appear on this face of the coin.
Reverse: Emily Damstra's new reverse design features an eagle carrying an oak branch as it prepares to land. Inscribed along the rim are the name of the issuing country, "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," the coin's face value, "ONE DOLLAR," and its metal content, "1 OZ. FINE SILVER." The second statutory motto, "E PLURIBUS UNUM," is also included on this face. Emily Damstra has her MFA degree from the University of Michigan. Her designs have been featuring on US coins since 2017.
