Struck at the West Point Branch of the U.S. Mint, this much desired 2021-W Burnished American Silver Eagle Type 2 is certified by NGC to be a First Release in Mint State 69 condition.

Why does this 2021-W Burnished American Silver Eagle Type-2 coin belong in your collection?

The U.S. Mint launched its American Silver Eagle series in 1986. The popular series is currently annually issued in bullion, proof and burnished (uncirculated) versions. In honor of the 35th anniversary of the Silver Eagle series in 2021, the Mint has introduced a new design to the coin's reverse for the first time ever! This 2021 dated coin of the series represents the first release of the newly designed Type-2 eagle landing reverse style to be issued with a gorgeous burnished finish.

  • This 2021-W Burnished American Silver Eagle coin contains 1 Troy oz. of .999 fine silver.
  • The coin was struck at the West Point Mint.
  • The coin measures 40.60 mm in diameter.
  • The Type-2 silver dollar's design includes a reeded edge variation as an anti-counterfeit security feature.
  • The superbly graded coin earned the First Releases designation.

Elegant Beauty of the Type-2 Silver Eagle

Obverse: The obverse is adorned with the timeless rendition of Lady Liberty draped in an American flag, as she strolls with confidence towards the sunrise. Inscribed "LIBERTY," "IN GOD WE TRUST" and "2021." This stunning allegorical interpretation of Liberty first appeared on the 1916 Walking Liberty Half Dollar designed by acclaimed early 20th century medallic sculptor Adolph A. Weinman. Although Mr. Weinman's work has graced the Silver Eagle since its inception in 1986, the Type-2 style marks the first use of the artist's "AW" monogram beneath the motto.

Reverse: The reverse features an eagle in flight preparing to land, with an oak branch in its grasp. Inscriptions include "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," "1 OZ. FINE SILVER," "ONE DOLLAR," "W" and "E PLURIBUS UNUM." The Type-2 eagle landing design was created by Emily Damstra, the U.S. Mint Artistic Infusion Program artist who also designed the inspirational imagery for the 2018 Breast Cancer Awareness Commemorative Program.
