Exciting Type-2 American Silver Eagle Design

Obverse: The obverse depicts the classic design of Lady Liberty as a young woman strolling toward the rising sun while draped in an American flag. A bouquet of long oak and laurel branches, symbols of strength, honor, and triumph, is cradled by the lovely lady. “LIBERTY,” “2021,” and “IN GOD WE TRUST” are among the inscriptions. Famous early 20th-century sculptor Adolph A. Weinman’s personification of Liberty was first struck on the circulating Walking Liberty Half Dollar coin in 1916.  Adolph Weinman’s initials, “AW,” will appear below the motto “IN GOD WE TRUST” for the first time in the series’ history on the type-2 design.

Reverse: The new Type-2 reverse features a magnificently detailed eagle in flight preparing to land, clutching an oak branch in its talons. “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “E PLURIBUS UNUM,” “1 OZ. FINE SILVER,” and “ONE DOLLAR” are inscribed on the coin. Emily Damstra, a science illustrator, created the “Eagle Landing” design. Damstra has designed interpretive signage for museums, zoos, and natural areas, as well as coinage designs for both the United States and the Royal Canadian Mints.

Collector’s Burnished Finish

A specialized metal-on-metal polishing process is used to achieve this “uncirculated” collector finish from the U.S. Mint. Prior to striking, both planchets and dies are polished, resulting in a uniform “frosty” appearance across the coin’s fields and devices.  This coin will arrive in its Original Government Packaging.

Don’t wait, make this 2021 dated inaugural release of the U.S. Mint’s American Burnished Eagle Type-2 coin a part of your collection today!
