Why add this West Point Mint 2021-(W) Silver American Eagle to your collection?
This historic Silver Eagle was struck as the West Point Mint. The coin is part of the 35th anniversary issue of the series. This release is also important because it is the final time that John Mercanti's reverse design, which has appeared on the series since it began in 1986, will be struck on a brilliant uncirculated bullion Silver Eagle. The U.S. Mint will change the design at some point during 2021, so this is the last time collectors will have the chance to get bullion Silver Eagle coins with this historic image.
- This coin was struck on a 1 oz planchet of .999 fine silver.

Featuring Adolph Weinman's Stunning Walking Liberty Design
Obverse: The coin's obverse bears the Walking Liberty design of Adolph Weinman, which appeared on the half dollar from 1916-1947. The morning sun emerges from beyond the horizon as Liberty greets the new day draped in the American flag. Her name, "LIBERTY," joins "IN GOD WE TRUST" and "2021" among the obverse inscriptions. Adolph Weinman's Walking Liberty Half Dollar and Mercury Dime are two of the best known coins of the 20th century. Besides designing coins, Weinman was also a sculptor, and his work can still be seen in cities across the United States.
Reverse: John Mercanti's reverse design is an adaptation of the Great Seal of the United States. A union shield is guarded by an eagle, which holds arrows and an olive branch, under thirteen stars, symbols of the original states. The name of the issuing country, "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," is inscribed on the top half of the rim, while the coin's weight, "1 OZ. FINE SILVER," and face value, "ONE DOLLAR," are included on the bottom half. John Mercanti is the US Mint's most prolific designer of coins and medals. His nearly four decades with the institution included a stint as its Chief Engraver.
