Patriotic Designs by Adolph Weinman and John Mercanti
Obverse: Adolph Weinman's Walking Liberty design features on the obverse. Liberty greets the new day by extending her right hand above the rising sun as she carries branches in her left arm. Her name, "LIBERTY," arches over the image, while the date, "2021," and the national motto, "IN GOD WE TRUST," are inscribed in other areas of this face. Adolph Weinman was a prominent sculptor whose work remains on display in many American cities. He made important numismatic contributions, most notably the Mercury Dime and the Walking Liberty Half Dollar.
Reverse: The reverse design is an adaptation of the Great Seal of the United States by John Mercanti. The image consists of two parts, a triangular arrangement of five-pointed stars on top, and an eagle protecting a union shield below. The image is encircled by rim inscriptions, which include the name of the issuing country, "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," the coin's weight, "1 OZ. FINE SILVER," and the face value, "ONE DOLLAR." John Mercanti is among the most consequential figures in American numismatic history. He spent nearly four decades with the US Mint, using that time to create more coin and medal designs than anyone else in the history of that institution.
