Magnificent American Gold Eagle Imagery

Obverse: The concept of Liberty is personified as a young woman surrounded by fifty stars on the obverse. She confidently steps forward while carrying a flaming torch of enlightenment and olive branch of peace, as stylized rays of sunlight glow above the dome of the U.S. Capitol Building in the background. Inscriptions include "LIBERTY," "W" and "2021." The timeless design is borrowed from the obverse of the 1907 Gold Double Eagle coin created by acclaimed sculptor Augustus Saint-Gaudens.

Type-1 Reverse (1986 until mid-2021): A meticulously detailed eagle family is depicted in a nest on the reverse, as a male eagle is portrayed in flight above, clutching an olive branch. The heartwarming wildlife scene is the work of artist Miley Busiek, an American sculptor with works on display at the Smithsonian American History Museum and the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library. Type-2 Reverse (introduced 2021): The reverse features a close-up view of an eagle facing left. The gorgeous rendition of the U.S. national bird is surrounded by the inscriptions "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," "E PLURIBUS UNUM," "IN GOD WE TRUST," "5 DOLLARS" and "1/10 OZ. FINE GOLD." The distinctive eagle portrait is credited to award-winning Arizona based professional graphic designer Jennie Norris. This is Ms. Norris' first coin design as a member of the U.S. Mint's Artistic Infusion Program.

This Type-1 and Type-2 Proof 2021-W American Gold Eagle 1/10 oz. coin set was submitted to the Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC) for review. The coins were individually assessed and deemed to be in perfectly struck Proof 70 condition. The coins were also awarded the Ultra Cameo (UC) designation, which describes the incredibly sharp contrast between their frosted design elements and mirrored backgrounds. The coins are encapsulated in separate, sonically sealed NGC protective holders, each accompanied by a handsome certification label dedicated to the Gold Eagle series' 35th Anniversary.
