2021 South Africa Silver Krugerrand Proof Coins
The Silver Krugerrand Series is a relative newcomer and was introduced in 2017 to mark the 50th Anniversary monumental Gold Krugerrand series. The Silver Krugerrand Proofs are the numismatic collector's version of the coin. The coins share the same standard design with the Gold Krugerrand coins, but do carry a face value. The Silver Krugerrand is struck to proof quality on .999 fine silver planchets. The series is known for its limited mintages.
The obverse of the coin features the portrait of Paul Kruger, the first President of Zar, the Transvaal Province of South Africa. The portrait was crafted by Otto Schultz, the famous coin designer and die maker from Germany.
The reverse of the coins features the Springbok Antelope. This South African native animal is a longtime symbol of the South African nation and people. The design was brought to fruition by world-renowned South African sculptor, Coert Steynberg.
