Why buy this 2021 R1South Africa 1 oz Silver Krugerrand?
The tradition of Krugerrand coins being issued by the South African Mint dates back to 1967, when the first Gold Krugerrands were issued. Fifty years later, a Premium Uncirculated silver version of the coin was introduced. The next year, the silver series was struck as a bullion coin for the first time in 2018, and has become an anticipated annual release ever since!
Featuring the Iconic Springbok Design of Coert Steynberg
Obverse: Otto Schultz's left-side portrait of Paul Kruger features on the obverse. The South African Republic's third President wears his long, thick beard. Joining him are a pair of inscriptions, "SUID-AFRIKA" and "SOUTH AFRICA," the name of the issuing country in Afrikaans and English.
Reverse: Coert Steynberg's reverse design features a springbok antelope, South Africa's national symbol, bounding through the plains. The date, "2021," is split to either side of the animal, while the name of the coin, "KRUGERRAND," is inscribed above. Inscriptions on the bottom of the rim provide the coin's metal content, "FYNSILWER 1 OZ FINE SILVER," and face value, "R1."
