Why add this impeccably graded 1 oz. Silver 2021 Australian Coat of Arms bullion coin to your collection?
The Royal Australian Mint has launched an impressively designed bullion series honoring the Australian Commonwealth Coat of Arms. The introductory release borrows its exciting obverse and reverse wildlife graphics from the Arms, featuring the cherished Australian native emu and kangaroo. The animals were chosen for the first Arms design in 1908 for their unique lack of ability to move backwards, thus signifying the nation's steadfast forward progression.
Contemporary Renditions of Coat of Arms Imagery
Obverse: The obverse features an emu standing protectively over its unhatched eggs, with the seven-pointed Commonwealth Star above, representing the six states and the territories of Australia. The background is patterned with golden wattle, the floral symbol of the Commonwealth, with several of the plant's delicate branches supporting a disc bearing the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. The Queen's portrait, which was created by acclaimed British sculptor Jody Clark in 2015, is surrounded by the inscriptions "ELIZABETH II" and "AUSTRALIA 2021." Near the emu's nest, a fluttering banner is inscribed with "1 OUNCE .999 AG."
Reverse: A kangaroo stands on the reverse with a joey in its pouch, flanked by the Commonwealth Star and a heraldic shield inscribed with the coin's "ONE DOLLAR" denomination. The kangaroo is surrounded by a complex array of intricately rendered foliage, constructed from the floral emblems of each Australian state and territory. The banner integrated into the base of the design carries the inscription "AUSTRALIA," emulating an additional design element from the Arms. The coin's modernized interpretations of the Australian Coat of Arms feature the artistry of Aaron Baggio, coin designer and sculptor for the Royal Australian Mint since 2008.
