Obverse: The coin's obverse bears a right-side portrait of Queen Elizabeth II that was designed by Jody Clark. The monarch is shown wearing earrings and a necklace, as well as her Royal Diamond Diadem. Her portrait is encircled by a rim frame that bears inscriptions of her name, "ELIZABETH II," the name of the issuing country, "AUSTRALIA," and the coin's face value, "1 DOLLAR."
Reverse: A koala bear sleeps in the crook of a eucalyptus tree in Monique Reeves's reverse design. The tree and the koala are colorized. Encircling the image is a rim frame in which there are inscriptions of the name of the coin, "AUSTRALIAN KOALA," its date, "2021," and its weight and purity, "1 OZ 9999 SILVER."
