Featuring the Classic Britannia Design by Philip Nathan
Obverse: Jody Clark designed the right-side portrait of Queen Elizabeth II that features on the obverse. The monarch wears earrings and her Royal Diamond Diadem. The coin's face value, "100 POUNDS," joins the monarch's name and abbreviated Latin title, "ELIZABETH II D G REG F D," along the rim, combining with them to encircle the effigy.
Reverse: Britannia stands proudly on the seas against a new wavy background in Philip Nathan's reverse design. She balances her shield, which features the Union Jack, with one hand while holding her trident in the other. In 2021 The Royal Mint added tincture lines to the shield as part of the new security features. This face also includes the holographic security mark that reveals a design once tilted as well as the wave-patterned background. On the rim frame are inscriptions that offer the figure's name, "BRITANNIA," the coin's date, "2021," and its weight and purity, "999.9 FINE GOLD." A final security feature also appears here, a laser-engraved micro text Latin inscription which translates to "an ornament and safeguard."
