Why add this 1 oz. Silver GEM Proof 2021 Four Guardians Vault Protector medal honoring the Vermilion Bird of the South to your collection?

The final release the Vault Protector proof medal Four Guardians series is an homage to the Vermilion Bird of the South. Each release of the series has been based upon one of the Four Guardians of Chinese mythology, combined with the power of a vault protector. Vault protectors were stuck as large cash coin style pieces, with a square hole at the center. A red silk cord was threaded through the hole, to hang as a charm against evil and disaster. The Vermilion Bird is a symbol for the color red, and is revered as a protective force over the southern direction on the compass, the season of summer and the element of fire.

  • This Four Guardians Vault Protector 2021 Vermilion Bird of the South medal is struck from 1 Troy oz. of .999 fine silver.
  • The non-legal tender medal was expertly crafted at the New Century Mint located in Shanghai, China.
  • The medal is minted with a dazzling proof finish.
  • The medal measures 40 mm in diameter, with an exciting "cash coin" style square hole at the center.
  • The medal represents the fourth and final release of the Four Guardians series.
  • A Mint issued Authenticity Certificate is included with the medal.
  • The medal is part of a 1,888 piece limited mintage.

Exceptionally Crafted Vermilion Bird Design

Obverse: A stunning segment of China's landmark Great Wall is illustrated on the obverse, as it curves around the medal's square hole and slices through the mountains and foliage of China's landscape. Inscriptions include "1 OZ AG .999" and "2021."

Reverse: A high relief Vermilion Bird is depicted on the reverse, with its magnificently detailed display of plumage nearly encircling the square opening. An elaborate compass rose is positioned below, surrounded by a stylized auspicious cloud design. Inscribed "VERMILION BIRD OF THE SOUTH - SUMMER." The spectacular bird image, along with the designs of the first three Four Guardians series' releases, are stunning examples of the artistry of Song Fei, a famed coin designer for China's Shenzhen Mint.
