Timeless Images of China: 2021 Silver Panda Design
Silver Panda coins boast a new reverse design that features the titular Chinese Giant Panda every year.In 2019, the China Mint started a "series in a series" that will follow a new-born panda from its infancy to full adulthood! The 2021 issue follows that tradition, and shows a growing panda cub and its mother.
The image for 2021 will be designed by designer Tong Fang, who designed the 2019 reverse. The China Mint recently released a sketch of the 2021 reverse design and it features a touching image of a mother panda and its growing cub. The cub scrambles up a tree, clutching the branches, as the mother watches attentively below. The Giant Panda is a cultural image that has a long association with China.
The coin's obverse uses a beautiful constant design that features the Taoist Hall of Prayer for Abundant Harvests. This UNESCO World Heritage site is located in the Forbidden City, located near Beijing.
