Why purchase this Triangular 2021 $1 Australia 1 oz Silver Antiqued Shipwreck Series - Zeewijk?
In 1726, the Zeewijk left the Netherlands on what would be its final voyage. On its way to Batavia, the ship lost 28 of its 208 seamen by the time it passed the Cape of Good Hope in 1727. The ship hit a reef off the coast of Western Australia later that year. Survivors made it to the shore and set up camp. Eleven of them launched the longboat for Batavia to seek help and were never heard from again. The rest salvaged the ships material and built the Sloepie, the first ever ship built in Australia by Europeans. The 82 survivors finally reached Batavia four weeks later.

The coin's face value, "ONE DOLLAR," is noted at the bottom of this face.
Reverse: Viewed upright, the reverse shows the Zeewijk sailing on the high seas in all its glory. When flipped, the holder can see the ship as it ended up, capsized. Viewing the coin this way, the holder can also see the inscriptions "ZEEWIJK" and the date of its wreck, "1727."
