Why order this 1 oz Gold 2021 Apollo 14 Robbins Medal?

The Apollo 14 mission was the fourth NASA mission to land a man on the moon. Alan Shepard commanded the mission, while Stuart Rosa served as the Command Module Pilot and Edgar Mitchell served as the Lunar Module Pilot. The mission was the first Apollo mission to have a liftoff delayed due to weather restrictions, and it collected samples from and conducted experiments on the moon. This Robbins Medal commemorative piece was struck to mark the 50th anniversary of the mission using scans from an authentic Apollo 14 Robbins Medal owned by astronaut Alan Bean.

  • This non-legal tender medal was struck from 1 oz of .9999 fine gold by the Sunshine Mint.
  • The medal marks the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 14 mission.
  • The Apollo 14 mission was the fourth NASA mission to land a man on the moon.
  • The moon on the obverse design bears a layer of space-flown gold.
  • Just 100 of these medals were struck.
  • Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC) graded this piece Mint State 70.

Stunning Apollo 14 Logo Design

Obverse: The obverse bears the official Apollo 14 logo. A star launches from the earth headed to the moon. Along the rim are inscriptions of the name of the mission, "APOLLO 14," and the names of the crew members, "SHEPARD," "ROOSA," and "MITCHELL."

Reverse: The reverse bears details of the mission. Inscriptions down the center read, "LAUNCHED JAN. 31, 1971 LANDED FEB 5, 1971 RETURNED FEB. 9, 1971." Just above and below are inscriptions of the medal's weight and purity, "1 TROY OZ .9999 AU," and the anniversary dates, "1971-2021," respectively. Inscriptions along the rim note the full names of the crew members, "ALAN B. SHEPARD JR.," "STUART A. ROOSA," and "EDGAR D. MITCHELL."
