Why purchase this 2021 American Silver Eagle Type-2 Mint Error coin?

In 2021, the U.S. Mint introduced the Type-2 American Silver Eagle in tribute to the series' 35th Anniversary. Occasionally a coin such as this example is released, with a distinct production error. The coin's error is identified as "struck thru," meaning that the coin was literally struck through an object such as a thread or lint fragment, leaving an impression behind.

  • This 2021 American Silver Eagle bullion coin contains 1 Troy oz. of .999 fine silver.
  • The coin is minted with a Struck Thru Mint Error on the obverse.
  • The coin represents the inaugural release of the Type-2 style Silver Eagle.
  • For counterfeit prevention, the coin is struck with an interrupted reeded edge.
  • A specially designed 35th Anniversary certification label is included with the coin.

Gorgeous Type-2 Silver Eagle Design

Obverse: The obverse illustrates Lady Liberty strolling towards the rising sun, draped in an American flag. Inscribed "LIBERTY," "2021" and "IN GOD WE TRUST." The image is borrowed from the 1916 Walking Liberty Half Dollar designed by acclaimed early 20th century sculptor Adolph A. Weinman. For the first time ever in the series' history, the 2021 Type-2 Silver Eagle credits Mr. Weinman's artistry, with the addition the "AW" monogram.

Reverse: On the reverse, an eagle is depicted gripping a branch of oak, as it prepares for landing. Inscribed "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," "1 OZ. FINE SILVER," "E PLURIBUS UNUM" and "ONE DOLLAR." The stunning Type-2 Eagle Landing graphic is credited to acclaimed artist Emily Damstra, a member of the Mint's Artistic Infusion Program since 2014.
