Why does this flawless, specially labeled Last Day of Production Type-1 2021 American Silver Eagle bullion coin deserve a place in your collection?
The U.S. Mint launched the American Silver Eagle in 1986. In honor of the series' 35th Anniversary in 2021, the Mint has changed the reverse design of the coin for the first time ever. Early year releases such as this example were the last to feature the Type-1 heraldic eagle reverse design created by the Mint's 12th Chief Engraver, John Mercanti. In fact, the United States Mint reserved the very last 200,000 Type 1 Silver Eagles to be struck in 2021 and releases them later in the year. This final year of issue Type-1 Silver Eagle is certified as a Last Day of Production release! Of the 200,000 last Type 1 Silver Eagles, only 150,000 qualified to carry the Last Day of Production pedigree.
- The Type-1 heraldic eagle reverse is featured on this 2021 American Silver Eagle coin.
- The bullion coin is struck from 1 Troy oz. of .999 fine silver.
- The coin measures 40.60 mm in diameter.
- The perfectly graded silver dollar includes a 35th Anniversary label.
- This coin is part of the 150,000 out of the 200,000 last Type 1 Silver Eagles that qualified to carry the Last Day of Production pedigree.
Gorgeous Type-1 Silver Eagle Design
Obverse: Lady Liberty appears on the obverse, strolling towards the rising sun while wrapped in an American flag, accompanied by the inscriptions "LIBERTY," "2021" and "IN GOD WE TRUST." This time-honored patriotic image is borrowed from the 1916 Walking Liberty Half Dollar designed by acclaimed early 20th century sculptor Adolph A. Weinman.
Reverse: Centered on the reverse is a magnificently detailed heraldic eagle grasping an olive branch and arrows. Inscribed "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," "1 OZ. FINE SILVER," "ONE DOLLAR" and "E PLURIBUS UNUM."
Pristine Mint State 70
This 2021 American Silver Eagle bullion coin was submitted to the Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC) for review and earned the right to carry the Final Day of Production (FDP) pedigree which was verified by NGC thanks to the serial numbers on sealed monster boxes and identifying information from the United States Mint. Featuring a perfect strike, flawless surfaces and spectacular eye appeal, the silver dollar earned the NGC's highest grade of Mint State 70. The coin is sonically sealed in a NGC protective holder, with a celebratory Silver Eagle 35th Anniversary style certification label confirming its impressive Last Day of Production pedigree.
