Why purchase this Brilliant Uncirculated 2021 American Silver Eagle bullion coin?
The U.S. Mint has issued the American Silver Eagle series since 1986. After thirty-five consecutive years of unchanged imagery, the Mint has announced that the original heraldic eagle reverse design, known as Type 1 or T-1, created by the former 12 Chief Engraver of the U.S. Mint John Mercanti, will be retired in 2021. American Silver Eagle coins released early in the year will be the final examples of the series to be struck with the iconic Type I imagery.
Magnificent Silver Eagle Design
Obverse: Lady Liberty is portrayed draped in an American flag on the obverse, as she confidently strolls towards the sunrise. Inscribed "LIBERTY," "2021" and "IN GOD WE TRUST." This personification of Liberty, designed by acclaimed early 20th century sculptor Adolph A. Weinman, first appeared on the Walking Liberty Half Dollar in 1916.
Reverse: On the reverse, an eagle is illustrated in a heraldic pose grasping an olive branch and arrows. Inscriptions include "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," "1 OZ. FINE SILVER" and "ONE DOLLAR," with "E PLURIBUS UNUM" on a banner held in the eagle's beak.
