Featuring the Beloved Walking Liberty Design of Adolph Weinman
Obverse: Adolph Weinman's iconic Walking Liberty design, which first appeared on the half dollar in 1916, graces the obverse. The image shows Liberty carrying branches of laurel and oak as the morning sun emerges from beyond the horizon. Inscriptions on this face include "LIBERTY," "IN GOD WE TRUST," and "2021." Adolph Weinman's best known works are the Mercury Dime and the Walking Liberty Half Dollar, though he is also credited for other numismatic work. Beyond that, he was also a sculptor, and his work continues to be displayed in cities across America.
Reverse: The reverse design was modeled off of the Great Seal of the United States by John Mercanti. Thirteen stars represent the original states above an eagle, which protects a union shield. Rim inscriptions read, "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," "1 OZ. FINE SILVER," and "ONE DOLLAR." John Mercanti has created designs for more coins and medals than anyone else in American history. He spent well over three decades with the U.S. Mint, which included time as its twelfth Chief Engraver.
