Why buy this MS70 2021 Silver American Eagle?
Since the first issue in 1986, the bullion Silver Eagle has featured the same two designs. That is all about to change in mid-2021 when a new Flying Eagle reverse design, created by Emily Damstra, will replace John Mercanti's original Heraldic Eagle reverse design. This early 2021 edition now gives collectors one last chance to own a bullion American Silver from this historic series with its original reverse design, before the new design is rolled out on Brilliant Uncirculated Silver Eagles later in 2021.

Striking Walking Liberty Design by Adolph Weinman
Obverse: The coin's obverse design comes from Adolph Weinman's Walking Liberty half dollar. Liberty carries laurel and oak branches in her left arm against a backdrop of the morning sun. Inscriptions on this face include her name, "LIBERTY," the national motto, "IN GOD WE TRUST," and the date, "2021." Adolph Weinman was a major contributor to America's numismatic renaissance of the early 20th century. HIs best known contributions were the Walking Liberty half dollar and the Mercury dime. Several of Weinman's sculptures remain on display to this day in various American cities.
Reverse: On the reverse is an adaptation of the Great Seal of the United States by John Mercanti. An eagle holds arrows and an olive branch while guarding a union shield under thirteen stars. The design is encircled by three rim inscriptions, "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," "1 OZ. FINE SILVER," and "ONE DOLLAR." John Mercanti spent 37 years with the US Mint, part of which he spent as its Chief Engraver. During that time, he designed more medals and coins than anyone else in the institution's rich history.
