Featuring Adolph Weinman's Treasured Walking Liberty Design
Obverse: The obverse design is among the most famous in American history, Adolph Weinman's Walking Liberty. Liberty wears a Phrygian cap and is draped in an American flag as she carries laurel and oak branches as the morning sun rises to the left. Obverse inscriptions note her name, "LIBERTY," the national motto, "IN GOD WE TRUST," and the date, "2021." Adolph Weinman designed the Mercury dime and the Walking Liberty half dollar, two of the most important pieces in America's early 20th century numismatic renaissance. He was also a prominent sculptor, whose work continues to be displayed in many American cities.
Reverse: The reverse design was modeled off of the Great Seal of the United States by Adolph Weinman. Thirteen five-pointed stars are arranged above an eagle, which guards a union shield while clutching arrows and an olive branch. Rim inscriptions provide essential information about the coin, reading, "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," "1 OZ. FINE SILVER," and "ONE DOLLAR." John Mercanti designed more coins and medals than anyone else in the history of the US Mint. His tenure with the institution included time as its twelfth Chief Engraver.
